Noel Rosales


A native of Agusan Del Norte in Southern Philippines, Noel Rosales is a Philippine Women’s University Fine Arts painting major and earlier as Mindanao State University scholar.

Prior to his stint as artist/illustrator with The Straits Times and later as executive artist/designer, SPH Marketing Division, Singapore he worked as a production designer in CelsoAd Castillo films. He is a former resident artist of Herirage Art Center.

He participated in a number of art competitions, first honorable mention, PhilTrade on the spot painting contest, 1979. First honorable mention, UP VKV on the spot painting competition, UP Diliman, 1980.  FIrst honorable mention, YMCA National level painting competition, 1981. Third prize, UST Annual on the spot painting contest, 1981. Grand prize, Exposicion de pintura  ‘Hispanidad 82’, Spanish Embassy, Manila, 1982. First prize, UP on the spot painting competition (Abueva trophy), UP Diliman, 1983. Grand prize, Cultural Center Of Philippines, Art of Ecology, 1989. Third prize, Metro Bank painting competition, 1990.

A member of Philippine Women’s University art group LIKARLA with three group shows, 1980 to1981. A four-man show at Cafe Rafaelita, Manila,1982 and a three-man show  ‘All that junk’ at PhilAm lobby, Manila, 1990. His first solo was conducted at the University of the Philippines Faculty Center in 1992 and has several other group exhibits since. View Gallery
