Cel Gulapa holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Manila’s University of Santo Tomas. He works for SPH Singapore as an infographics journalist in The New Paper where he specializes in editorial illustration, infographics and graphic design.
He sketches in his free time and paints to free his mind. His method is influenced by abstract expressionism but always centres on a human form.
He is inspired by music, travel, magazines, beauty, human kindness, architecture, order, irony, good, evil: essentially chaos which make up life basically in general. His subjects are an expression of how inspite of all life’s compexities, the quest for the meaning of life remain constant.
